Armed police shoot out-of-control dog dead after man is found seriously mauled in house

A dog has been killed by armed officers this morning after a man was ‘seriously injured’.

Earlier today, officers were called to reports that a man had been hurt at a house in Cameron Road, Derby.

A dog at the address was shot and killed by firearms officers after it presented ‘a risk to officers and the public’. 

A man has also been arrested in connection with the incident, while police remain at the property and a cordon is in place.

Police have said there is no ongoing risk to the public and officers will remain in the area as the investigation into the incident continues.

A resident told Derbyshire Live they had seen forensics in the area and that police had been at the scene since 6am.

They told the news outlet they went to bed at around midnight and could hear shouting but she didn’t look to see what was happening because she was used to it.

Other witnesses have said that officers have been there since between five and six this morning.
